LIVE COALS' STORYLight puffs of smokeStream above Night silent forest, Stream among Slumbering tree-tops... From a small opening, Where so calmly... A boy was sitting By a burnt down fire. He was looking on the live coals, And they were breathing With shades of red, With shades of yellow... And every shade was like a word About bygone days... About distant love... Once he met a star baby On a forest path. A small smiling girl With golden hair. Her blue eyes Looked at him And asked for help: Where am I? Where is my home, That looks like A blossoming orchard, Like the cheerful sun? And he answered: I know a such place, Follow me! They were going by a path And the girl was singing A strange song in her language: Ai-la-la, ti-la-la Sai-ho la-la Ai-lo la-la! And soon she noticed That somebody's merry voice Joins in her song. O, no! That wasn't the boy. He just was happy Looking on her. That was a stream's voice That was running by them Like a jolly puppy. And then she saw this glade... That was full of flowers, Motley butterflies, Honey aromas... She laughed and started to dance! Butterflies were whirling above, Flowers where rocking underneath. It seems like the Earth was playing Her lost beautiful melody... That day was just an instant. And when the first star lighted In the cloudless sky She kissed him And was gone... But he believes That One day They met each other And that summer sunny day Will return again... They will dance among Rocking flowers And whirling butterflies... Hundred long years passed away... He has remained the same boy... Maybe her kiss was so magical? Maybe his love was so intense? The bonfire was burning down And live coals were speaking... The boy sighed and started a song, Her song in that strange language: Ai-la-la, ti-la-la Sai-ho la-la Ai-lo la-la... Suddenly he noticed That somebody's merry voice Joins in the song. O, no! That wasn't the live coals... That was her starry voice! He looked up and saw her... They burst out laughing And the forest echoed them With enchanting music... (C) Alexander Kalinkin |
